It allows one to CREATE, MAINTAIN and PROCESS non-numeric databases

Precisely it allows BUILDING, MANIPULATING, MAINTAINING and MANAGING non-numeric databases, particularly CDS/ISIS does the following;

• definition of databases with user selected data elements
• entering of new records
• modification, correction and deletion of existing records
• selection of search terms
• retrieval of records on basis of search expression
• displaying of records
• recalling of queries
• sorting of records in desired sequence
• printing records from the whole database or from selective list saved after search
• export/import of databases records in ISO 2709 format
• development of specialized applications using Pascal language
