The UNESCO-Harare Documentation Centre is a specialised
resource centre primarily created to provide information concerning UNESCO's
activities to researchers, scholars, professionals and other related
institutions. In promoting the quest for knowledge and disseminating accurate
information, the Centre also hopes to foster better understanding to members of
the public of UNESCO's activities.
Arusha International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) is a legal and reference library develped most recently in the Judicial and Legal Services Division of CTR, under the Deputy-Registrar. Comprising the main library in Arusha, a branch library at the Office of the Prosecutor in Kigali, and the Outreach Information & Documentation Centre, the unit provides, assists, and makes available to the Trial Chambers, the Registry, the Office of the Prosecutor, Defence counsel, legal officers and all the staff of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda the information and documentation they require to accomplish their duties: http://www.ictr.org/default.htm.
The Sergio Vieira de Mello United Nations Library at Nairobi is a joint initiative of the United Nations agencies based in Nairobi, led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). It was officially opened on 30 June 2004. The Library’s purpose is to develop and maintain a collection of scientific and technical information on the global state of the environment, human settlements and UN-related issues which will assist the staff of the United Nations and outside users in analyzing trends, assessing problems and promoting activities leading to environmentally sound development. The United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Zimbabwe is the principal local source of public information about the United Nations system.
