The compendium of best practices in orphan care is one of the attempts being made to foster greater coordination and more efficient performance of the orphan care programme in Malawi. It is feared that with limited knowledge levels may result in a situation where in some areas the needs of the orphan are not met in the best possible way. Additionally, without proper guide a situation of contradictory activities among organisations is possible. It is hoped that this compendium will add to the existing knowledge on practices that can benefit orphans in Malawi.
